Melbourne’s psychedelic indie upstarts Dardanelles have knocked back a plethora of commercially acknowledged albums to earn themselves a much deserved nomination in the final round of the 2007 Australian Music Prize (The AMP). The final round of the top 10 Australian Albums of 2007 was judged and selected by a hand picked industry panel from an initial list of 190 albums released in 2007.

Dardanelles continue their rising success that has followed the release of their critically acclaimed album “Mirror Mirror’; featuring the singles ‘Footsteps’ and ‘Mirror Mirror’ which has earned them a the reputation for producing “the finest Australian album of 2007 bar none” (Rip It Up Magazine).

To mark the occasion, Dardanelles are setting out on a mini tour in support of the single ‘Domino’s Dance’ and are set to re-release their album ‘Mirror Mirror’, with a special limited edition bonus disc featuring their debut EP, previously unreleased track ‘Stop’, and remixes from Riot In Belgium, and Acid Jacks. The original EP features ‘Origami Tree’ and ‘Ofcourse You Said’, which saw them added to Triple J’s ‘Next Crop’ and high rotation.

This follow on from a hectic past 9 months for Dardanelles, whom over the summer have played the Field Day Festival in Sydney, Victoria’s Pyramid Rock Festival, plus touring with bloggers delight Crystal Castles and UK indie-pop darlings The 1990’s.

The ‘Domino’s Dance’ mini tour features a secret Myspace show along with Plain White T’s in Melbourne, then to the Playground Weekender Festival, likened to the UK’s Bestival, where they will play alongside Kruder and Dorfmeister, Ian Brown, The Wombats and Maximo Park.
