DARDANELLES' TOUR WITH CRYSTAL CASTLES

Following the release of their haunting debut album Mirror Mirror, Melbourne’s Dardanelles are gearing up for a whirlwind tour supporting much hyped Toronto outfit Crystal Castles, as they bring their twisted electronic sounds to Australia for the first time.

Catch Dardanelles playing with Crystal Castles on Saturday 15 December at Oxford Arts Factory in Sydney, followed by Thursday 20 December at Pogo in Melbourne.

With Mirror Mirror currently going into its second pressing, Dardanelles have just wound up an album launch tour, and have also been added to the line-up for the Pyramid Rock Festival, held in Phillip Island (Victoria) over the New Year’s weekend.

Featuring 11 tracks, Mirror Mirror is a lucid dream of unexpected hooks, mesmerising grooves, vivid lyrical imagery and filmic noise with Dardanelles combining shoe-gaze guitars, hip-hop programming, Detroit-tech piano, one man choirs, and Kubrickesque trance outs.

DARDANELLES RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM

It’s time to get your hands on one of the most ambitious indie releases of 2007 – Dardanelles’ eagerly awaited debut album Mirror Mirror will be available in stores from 15 September! Featuring 11 tracks, Mirror Mirror is a panoramic soundscape of unexpected hooks, hypnotic grooves, soaring vocals and filmic noise, juggling shoe-gaze guitars, hip-hop drum programming, Detroit-tech piano, one man choirs, the visceral squeal of grunge, and Kubrickesque trance outs.

A statement of Dardanelles’ unique musical vision, Mirror Mirror was recorded over four weeks in Melbourne with respected producer Woody Annison (Children Collide, Red Riders). Unlike anything you’ll hear in 2007 Dardanelles show they know how to push their musical boundaries.

With the album’s first single ‘Footsteps’ already familiar to listeners of triple j and community radio nationally, Dardanelles are gearing up for the release of a new single and have also been busy perfecting their intense live show.

They’ll show just how far they’ve come when they support Glaswegian buzz band 1990s in late September across venues in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and play with Midnight Juggernauts next week at their Sydney shows.

Spreading their musical vision far and wide, Dardanelles will soon announce an extensive national album launch tour, and a string of international tour dates including a performance at Manchester’s premier music event, In The City!

LOST VALENTINOS LAUNCH '17 DEATHS' NEXT WEEK

LOST VALENTINOS are gearing up to launch their explosive new single ‘17 Deaths’ across the country, playing shows in Newcastle, Sydney and Melbourne next week.
Lost Valentinos kick off the tour in Newcastle at Cambridge Hotel on Thursday 26 July, before playing the Gaelic Theatre in Sydney on Friday 27 July, and the East Brunswick Club in Melbourne on Saturday 28 July.

The Sydney-based band then appear at SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS in Byron Bay on Saturday 4 August, playing alongside Bloc Party, Artic Monkeys, Lily Allen, The Klaxons, Hot Chip and more, before making their way to Adelaide to play Fowlers Live on Friday 10 August.
Due to overwhelming demand, the band has confirmed another show on the ‘17 Deaths’ tour – Lost Valentinos will also play a free show at Transit Bar in Canberra on Friday 17 August.

Joining Lost Valentinos as special guests for all launches, except in Canberra, will be fellow Sydneysiders STARKY.
‘17 Deaths’ is the first single from the debut album by the newly named Lost Valentinos, and is available for download now exclusively from iTunes. The single is the result of three days secured in a recording studio with UK producer Ewan Pearson (The Rapture, M83, Chemical Brothers).

DARDANELLES STARE INTO THE MIRROR

With their debut album Mirror Mirror due for release on 25 August, DARDANELLES are about to hit the road to launch their new single ‘Footsteps’. An adrenalin injected dose of frenetic guitars and moodyvocals, ‘Footsteps’ will be available exclusively via iTunes from 30 June.

DARDANELLES will kick off their ‘Footsteps’ tour playing Wednesday 4 July at Sodens in Albury, Thursday 5 July at the Oxford Tavern in Wollongong, Friday 6 July at Spectrum in Sydney, Saturday 7 July at Rics in Brisbane, and Sunday 8 July at the Miami Tavern on the Gold Coast.

With a constant stream of activity following DARDANELLES since their inception, the year ahead is looking very promising for the Melbourne four-piece.
Following airplay on triple j and community radio, and shows with Who Made Who (Denmark), Cut Copy and Dappled Cities, DARDANELLES recently emerged from the studio after recording their debut album with producer Woody Annison (Children Collide, Red Riders).

Having released the single ‘Of Course You Said’ from their self-titled EP earlier this year, the track was the follow up to DARDANELLES’ smash-underground-single ‘Origami Tree’,which spent five weeks in the ‘Top 10’ of the Australian Alternative Radio Play Charts.

THE VALENTINOS PLAY LAST SHOWS EVER

Bringing their explosive live show to an abrupt end, THE VALENTINOS will play their last shows (under their current name!) at The Annandale in Sydney on Friday 18 May, and Click Click at Brown Alley in Melbourne on Saturday 19 May.

Soul artist from the 1950s, Bobby Womack & The Valentinos, are the reason for the band’s impending name change. “Whoop whoop, it’s the sound of the police”, or should we say the lawyers? The time has come for The Valentinos to get a new moniker before they land in some hot water.

After standout performances at V Festival and touring the country on last month’s ‘best-thing-outta-Belgium-since-the-waffle’ Radio Soulwax tour, the shows in May will be the first opportunity to hear the band play brand new tracks from their forthcoming debut album.

The Valentinos are set to release the first single from the album this July, which was recorded and produced in Sydney by legendary Berlin-based UK producer Ewan Pearson, who is currently in the studio producing the new M83 album. Pearson will return to Australia later this year to record and produce The Valentinos debut album,
which is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of the next twelve months.

In other news, The Valentinos first two EPs Self Titled and Damn & Damn Again have been re-pressed due to overwhelming demand.

DARDANELLES LAUNCH 'OF COURSE YOU SAID' EASTER LONG WEEKEND

Giving you every good reason to cut loose this Easter weekend, DARDANELLES will launch their new single ‘Of Course You Said’ on Sunday 8 April at the Annandale Hotel in Sydney. The boys will be supported by Bright Yellow and The Shake Up.

Prior to their Easter launch, DARDANELLES will also play a show with Dappled Cities Fly on Thursday 5 April at the Manning Bar (Sydney University), and a show on Saturday 7 April at Bad Kids Recreation Club, Bar Broadway.

‘Of Course You Said’ has been whipping the crowd into a convulsing frenzy at live gigs. The track is the follow up to DARDANELLES’ smash-underground-single ‘Origami Tree’, which spent five weeks in the‘Top 10’ of the Australian Alternative Radio Play Charts.

The track has also gone under the remix knife of current beat-du-jour producers Riot In Belgium, whose latest single 'La Musique' is being dropped in every club from Miami to Madrid via Melbourne.

While it was brewing in the Victorian capital, the production skills of Street Crime
(aka Andy from Midnight Juggernauts) also lent a hand laying down synths on the remix.

‘Of Course You Said’ can be found on DARDANELLES’ self-titled EP, which was produced by Woody Annison, whose recent production credits include the beat combo Red Riders and next-big-things Children Collide.

THE VALENTINOS PLAY V FESTIVAL & SOULWAX TOUR

After being locked in the studio for the past three months writing songs for their debut album, THE VALENTINOS are venturing out to play a string of special shows over the next few weeks.


Confirmed as part of the V Festival line-up, The Valentinos will play alongside The Pixies, Beck, Jarvis Cocker, Gnarls Barkley, Soulwax Nite Versions and many more in Sydney on Saturday 31 March, and the Gold Coast on Sunday 1 April.


The electro-rockers will also tour the country with Radio Soulwax in March and April. With a massive line-up including Soulwax Nite Versions, 2manydjs, New Young Pony Club, Riot in Belgium, Kitsune DJs and more, this will be a tour not to miss!


The Valentinos will also play with Radio Soulwax at Metro City in Perth on Thursday 29 March, The Metro in Melbourne on Friday 30 March, The Met in Brisbane on Wednesday 4 April, and the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney on Thursday 5 April.


And if you can’t wait until V Festival to see The Valentinos, you can catch them this weekend at Wiseman’s Ferry for the Playground Weekender in New South Wales. The Valentinos play on Saturday 10 March, and will share the stage with !!! (Chk Chk Chk), Elbow, The Dears, The Presets and many more.


In other news, The Valentinos debut release The Valentinos EP has been re-pressed due to overwhelming demand.

Limited copies of the EP, which sold out in mid-2006, will be available throughout March. Make sure you get your hands on a copy quickly – they’ll go like hotcakes!


The band’s latest EP Damn and Damn Again, which features the killer singles Rain and Nightmoves, is also available in-stores.

Valentinos In Hibernation

THE VALENTINOS are going into hibernation this summer to bunker down in the studio and begin work on their debut album.

With their hectic touring schedule of the past 18 months finally coming to an end, including a performance at Homebake and recent shows supporting French sensation Uffie,THE VALENTINOS will bring in 2007 with a bang at the Falls Festival (Lorne) on New Year’s Eve.

That’s right, in pieces. Filmed in a Darlinghurst den during the wee small hours, the complex clip features over 900 images and is directed by James Littlemore.

Other talented folk have also had their way with THE VALENTINOS of late: Ajax (no, not the Dutch football club, in case you were confused) has remixed, rub-dubbed,re-done-everything for their track ‘Face Is On The Wall’, while Comets (known as Tim & Joel when on earth) have taken ‘Nightmoves’ on a joy ride in space through an acid infused asteroid field.

This will be the last of THE VALENTINOS’ gigs before retreating to write & record new material for their debut album, rumoured to have the production treatment of a certain international producer touring in the country in January.
